SOFTSHOE'S MUSIC MATTERS SITE

Hello, welcome to my site which is intended to share the work I've done to produce lists of albums recorded by a wide variety of artists, some of whom I admit to knowing little about, and other music related information. I'm bound to have made mistakes or missed things out so when you spot any errors it would be appreciated if you would let me know at Softshoe. However, please note that, while I have made every effort to be accurate, I do not accept any responsibility for any purchases you may make - if you are looking for a specific track it's up to you to make certain that it's included on whatever you're buying and that it's the version you want. Please don't suggest artists you feel I should add as just trying to keep up to date keeps me busy enough!

Each page lists what is available on it which may include some or all of:

• link to a web-site specific to that artist - click on the name at the top of the page if it's in red
• track-listing, personnel details and a picture of the cover for each album where available
• brief biographical details where available - click on person's name (uses a pop-up)
• large cover picture where available - click on album cover (uses a pop-up)
• buy from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com - click on the appropriate Amazon banner.

There are also links to music-related sites I've found interesting or useful while building up this site and, assuming that music-lovers want to hear music reproduced to the highest standard they can afford, HiFi-related sites. If you are looking for records, photos etc please don't contact me asking for help as I do not have anything for sale and will no longer reply; try searches on GEMM and e-bay (see the links page).

The site started off as something to occupy my time with when I was off work sick and unable to leave the house between February and August 2000 - it had to be something I could do while sat down as damage to my spinal cord made walking or even standing difficult. I had gathered lots of information over the years and creating a simple web-site to put that into a form I could easily use and which might be of interest to others seemed a good use of the time. Originally it was hosted on the free space from my ISP but encouragement from visitors made me decide to pay to have it hosted professionally and to add more detail. I was medically retired in November 2001 and can now only work part-time as my health has continued to get worse (please don't feel sorry for me as I'm better off than many and can still do the things I enjoy instead of pursuing a career). Apart from listening to music on LP, CD and the radio or going to gigs, working on the site keeps me occupied doing something I enjoy and trying to repay in some small way the many talented musicians who have given me so much pleasure over the years (and will do for many years to come I hope!).

This site is dedicated to the memory of my husband, Andy Simons, who was cruelly taken from me on 28th June 2021. He spent hours, days, months and years researching and collating all the information contained herein. It was a labour of love for him to be able to share his passion and knowledge with others and I am sure he would be delighted to know that people will still be able to access his work..
